Grilling radishes mellows out their peppery bite and makes them delightfully tender-crisp. Use a grill basket to prevent radishes from falling through the grates, or skewer them.

Ingredients

Creamy Cilantro Dip:
  • 1/4 cup each mayonnaise and sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh mint
  • 1/2 teaspoon lime juice
  • pinch pepper
Radishes:
  • 20 radishes trimmed and halved lengthwise
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon liquid honey
  • pinch pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

Creamy Cilantro Dip: In small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, cilantro, mint, lime juice and pepper. Set aside. (Make-ahead: Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.)

Radishes: In bowl, toss together radishes, butter, lime juice, honey and pepper. Place on lightly greased grill over medium-high heat; close lid and grill, turning once, until tender and slightly charred, about 5 minutes. Return to bowl; toss with salt. Serve warm with dip.
