This originally started out as my grandma's recipe, that my mom used to make for us when I was growing up. When I started making it myself, I tweaked a few things to my liking. When I make this along side a nice juicy steak, it's our favourite meal.

  • Portion size 4 servings

  • 3 1/2 cups hashbrowns
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can sliced mushroom
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can french fried onion


Preheat oven to 350'F. Mix hashbrowns, cheese, soup, mushrooms (drained), and sour cream in a 1.5L casserole dish. Cook in oven for an hour and 25 minutes. Spread the french fried onions on top of casserole, and cook for another 5 minutes.
