This ham-and-cheese sandwich is the perfect snack for big kids with large appetites. Drain the salsa so you won't have a soggy sandwich.

- 2 teaspoons butter softened
- 2 slices light rye bread or other sandwich bread
- 1 thin slice Black Forest ham
- 2 tablespoons salsa
- 1/3 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
MethodSpread butter over 1 side of each bread slice; lay, butter side down, on work surface. Top 1 slice with ham and salsa; sprinkle with cheese. Top with second slice, butter-side up.
Grill in panini press until crisp and browned and cheese is melted, 2 to 3 minutes. (Or grill in cast-iron skillet over medium heat, pressing and turning once, about 5 minutes.) Makes 1 serving.
