Fruity and slightly spicy, these olives are the perfect accompaniment to a summery cocktail. For easy prep the day of the party, make these ahead of time.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 pinch hot pepper flakes
  • 3 strips orange zest
  • 1 jar (375 ml) green olive drained
  • 1 jar (375 ml) Kalamata olives drained
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice

Method

In saucepan, heat oil and garlic over medium heat until starting to soften, about 2 minutes.

Add fennel seeds, hot pepper flakes, orange zest, green olives and Kalamata olives; cook until warmed through, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in orange juice. (Make-ahead: Refrigerate in airtight container for up to 5 days; let stand at room temperature for 1 hour before serving.)
