Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cup wheat bran
  • 1/2 cup raisin

Method

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add molasses and eggs, and beat together well. Add milk and then bran. Set aside.

Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt together. Add to the other ingredients.

Add raisin, I also use blueberries and or cranberries. Place in greased muffin tins. Bake in a 400 degrees F oven for 18 to 20 minutes.
