This dip has almost become a classic, although there are several versions. The bread becomes the serving bowl and you can cut or tear the chunks removed to serve with the dip along with assorted vegetables.
- Portion size 2 servings
- 1/4 lb cream cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 pkg (300 g) spinach thawed
- 2 green onions finely chopped
- 4 slices bacon finely chopped
- 1 garlic minced
- 1 dark rye bread
MethodIn bowl, beat cream cheese with mayonnaise until smooth; stir in yogurt. Squeeze excess water from spinach and chop finely; stir into cream cheese mixture. Add green onions, bacon and garlic; mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Slice circle of crust from top of bread. Hollow out loaf, leaving shell at least 1 inch (2.5cm) thick, and cutting or tearing removed bread into pieces to serve with dip. Spoon dip into hollowed-out bread.
