Teriyaki Pork Burgers

Lean ground pork sizzles on the grill with popular Oriental flavours — ginger and teriyaki — and with the crunch of water chestnuts.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped water chestnut
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger root
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 lb lean ground pork
  • 6 hamburger buns

Method

In bowl, beat egg; mix in garlic, bread crumbs, water chestnuts, green onion, teriyaki sauce, ginger, mustard, salt and pepper. Mix in pork; shape into six 3/4-inch (2 cm) thick patties. Place on greased grill over medium-high heat; cook for 6 to 7 minutes per side or until no longer pink inside. Sandwich in buns.
