This is a great family dish and is so easy and quick to prepare. It is a one-pot meal that's ready in less than 30 minutes. I like to serve these sandwiches with a side salad, which satisfies my family of six.

- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 small onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 can baked beans in tomato sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3 cups grated Cheddar cheese
- 6 buns whole wheat dinner or hamburger
- 2/3 cups prepared barbecue sauce
MethodSaut?nion and garlic in canola oil in a saucepan until soft, then add ground turkey breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until turkey is no longer pink.
Add canned beans and barbecue sauce and simmer at a medium-low heat for about 15 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste and then add 1 cup of shredded cheese and heat until melted.
Split the buns and lighty toast. Spoon meat mixture over the buns, top with remaining cheese and place under broiler to melt the cheese. Serve with a side salad.
