Dried papaya, pineapple and mango infuse toothsome oats with a taste of the tropics. This makes a great sunny breakfast for a cold blustery morning.
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk 2 cups milk
- 1 cup steel-cut oats 1 cup steel-cut oats
- 1/4 cup chopped dried papayas 1/4 cup chopped dried papayas
- 1/4 cup chopped dried pineapples 1/4 cup chopped dried pineapples
- 1/4 cup chopped dried mangoes 1/4 cup chopped dried mangoes
- 2 whole cloves 2 whole cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 pinch nutmeg 1 pinch nutmeg
Preparation
Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered and stirring occasionally, until oats are tender, about 35 minutes. Discard cloves.
