Savoury-sweet with a little kick of heat, this chunky ketchup makes an ideal mate for tourtiere – vegetarian or otherwise.
Ingredients
- 1 cup diced seeded peeled tomatoes
- 1 diced cored peeled pear
- 1 hot green chili pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup golden raisins
- 3 tbsp cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp packed brown sugar
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
Preparation
Discard cinnamon stick and chili pepper; simmer, uncovered, until thickened, about 20 minutes. (Make-ahead: Let cool. Refrigerate in airtight container for up to 5 days.)
