Watermelon Lemonade
Get the party started with a refreshing summer drink to enjoy with either vodka or sparkling soda, as in the variations.

1/3 cup (75 mL) granulated sugar
5 cups (1.25 L) cubed seeded watermelon
3/4 cup (175 mL) lemon juice
Preparation:
In heatproof measuring cup, whisk 1 cup (250 mL) boiling water with sugar until dissolved. Set aside.
In blender, blend watermelon with lemon juice until smooth. Strain into glass pitcher, pressing mixture; stir in sugar syrup. (Make-ahead: Cover and refrigerate for up to 1 week.)

Hard Watermelon Lemonade: Fill highball glass with ice. Add 1/2 cup (125 mL) Watermelon Lemonade and 1 oz (25 mL) vodka; stir just to combine. Makes 1 serving.Sparkling Watermelon Lemonade: Fill highball glass with ice. Add 3/4 cup (175 mL) Watermelon Lemonade. Top with 1/2 oz (15 mL) soda water; stir just to combine. Makes 1 serving.
