| I believe they come from donated hair, mostly from women who immigrate to north america and were not permitted by culture or religion to cut their hair, thus many have long healthy hair and will happily cut it off and either sell or donate it. I don't know if this is true but it is what I have heard. |

Actually if you are referring to hair used for wigs etc for cancer patients, people go and donate their hair at the cancer units. A lot of reputable haor salons sell the hair that is cut off and swept up from their salons to there also. I am pretty certain some of them sell them to people who are doing hair extensions also. _________________ Be an organ donor; give your heart to Jesus.

My 14 year old daughter grows her hair for that very reason. There is a charity called Wigs for Kids who take human hair, and make it into wigs for children who have lost theirs due to cancer or the condition alopecia. It must be undyed, and untreated hair.
The minimum they will take is 10 inches, so it usually takes about a year and a half for my daughter to grow it that long, plus leave some for herself for a nice cut! |

It depends what hair extension you get. Greatlengths is the hair extensions that the movie stars get and they come from places like Europe. Women grow their hair and sell it to Greatlengths. The hair goes through quiet the process before they are used for extensions so they are pretty safe. I have had the Greatlengths extensions a few times and they are pretty nice to have but not a good idea to have them for an extensive period of time as they could cause some balding... best to only used them while you are growing your own hair out.
There are some hair extension out there that is not real hair and they sell it as real hair so you really need to do your homework. |
