I have had acne ever since I moved away from my hometown in coastal BC. I know live in Alberta, in a very dry, dusty spot. I was about 23, I am now 28.. Not sure if it was hormones (I have 2 children since 24 and it's gotten worse about 6 months after each birth yet wonderful during pregnancy). It could also be the dry, unforigving climate, though moisturising makes it even oilier.. I cannot find a balance
I was tested for Hormones, thyroid and everything recently and nothing came up strange. So I am just giving up and going on Acu Tane. I have heard very mixed reviews, but honestly I am fed up with my skin always being red and horrible. Seriously, horrible.
Anyways, I have to wait until November 30 to see a dermatologist and I am going nuts. I f anyone has ANYTHING that has helped them, for helping keep clear or even soothe and maybe help with redness I would be extremely grateful! I try and have tried many products and I find the type of acne I have stays deep under my skin so all the produt does it dry it and make it flaky... the painful pimples stay under my skin, still red and if I try to pop they scar. SIGH and CRY. HELP PLEASE!!! |

I don't want to be advertising here because I know that is wrong.....
But, I had the same problem for quite a while although I am only in my mid twenties. I live on the coast of BC too, so I'm sure you know about the heat wave this summer! All the sweating really helped keep my skin clear this summer. I also use this thick white face cream cleanser I think it's clean and clear. Except I put it all over my face and leave it for about 2-3 minutes before I wash it off. There's something that I used to get at the body shop called a face lily, they do not make it anymore. It was kind of like a loofah but for your face and much tighter and rolled together. It did an awesome job cleaning my face! My favorite thing to use now to wash my face is the garnier nutritionist system I think it's a cleanser then toner then lotion. I clean my face with a very soft baby hairbrush too, that's just what I prefer right now. With all the dust flying around you need something to get in there and really clean your pores! My skin is not yet perfect, but over the weekend I got my first compliment on my skin since ... well, forever.
Hopefully you can find something that works for you! Apparently that pro-active stuff is good to but I hear that if you stop using it the condition worsens. Another product line I have had quite good results from is vichy. |

| Have you tried a natural supplement? Genuine Health makes one called perfect skin. It contains the most important nutrients for healthy, clear skin including Green Tea, Chromium, Zinc and Omega-3 EPA concentrate. People with acne are often deficient in all of these - not to mention these ingredients are clinically proven to decrease inflammation, promote hormonal balance and reduce stress - the main causes of acne and breakouts. Go to genuinehealth.com and search perfect skin under Products. My sister has been taking it, and her results are unreal! |

hey thanks ... your post may be moderated becauses there is a link (and kindof advertising) but it's neat to see... I am tired of people saying it's on the outer skin.. it really isn';t I have tried every facewash fromt he cheapest to the most expensive. Topical doesn't work for this it is internal. I have had blood tests and nothing shows up (hormonally I mean and diabetes and stuff that may be linked) . I am actually willing to try this and tell you how it goes thanks. Hopefully if works by nov 30 when I am due to get on acu tane : / |

| I have been taking a birth control pill called Yazmin and it is actually prescribed for mild to moderate acne. I have barely had any pimples in all the years I have been taking it. I also use a hypo-allergenic line of makeup and skincare called CoverFX (available at Shoppers Drug Mart). Hope that helps! |

I have been using doctor prescripted "Cyindoxyl gel" for a very long time, it works for me, but I would like to try something different. The natural supplement is a good idea. I wondered how long did it take to starting to see the result? |

I agree! You need to wait and see what your dermatologist says.

I agree, the less chemicals in your body the better. I have heard both good and bad things about acutane. It doesn't always work the first time and a second or even third round is needed. I considered it for a long time and opted to not to put those chemicals in my system.
I am in my mid 30's and still struggle with acne dispite my skin care routing, especially as my monthly approaches.
A daily cleansing routing is good - twice daily. Should include non perfume, natural cleanser preferably - like a glycerin soap. An astringent is good. I use a witch hazel natural product. A natural scrub twice or three times a week helps by removing the dead skin that sometimes builds up and blocks pores. Note that peach pit scrubs which are natural actually can cause microscopic scratches on your skin. So try to find as close to natural with a synthetic scrubby bead. And a weekly mask - mud or clay or something natural with stuff like green tea.
Check out your organic aisle of your grocerie store, if there is one. If not sure about a product, try asking your dermatologist for their opinion.
All the best. _________________ Cheers!

Hello everyone. Try this and I guarantee it 100%. After years of upset and trying the only thing thatt works is 0 sugar. No milk but have cheese. As much meat as you want, as much butter olive oil, no fruit at all no sugar in tea or coffee, grains fine, potatoes fine. Basically anything with sugar in, avoid it. Avoid ketchup, baked beans in tin, lentils cooked frsh are fine. Coke bad - Diet coke fine.
Try it - I swear by it.
Although a bit bland at the start, after a while you become a lot more creative in meals.
Feedback after a couple of days on diet please, so that everyone else can benefit. |
