| My Mom has been trying to teach me to knit for as long as I can remember. It's harder because she is some distance away from me.I was wondering if there are any websites or books that anyone would recommend that I try,to teach myself how to knit on my own...If you have any recommendations, feel free to pm me,thanks... |

Hi Mousse:
Check out Youtube.com and type in learn to knit. You will be surprised to see what they have. They even have about learning to crochet. They have videos on quilting, hand embroidery, etc. I go through a lot of those videos and learn some new things and new ideas. |

| You are welcome Mouse. Good luck to you. Oh and another thing is to check out your public library and they may have books and videos on how to knit. I know that here in Ottawa those books do exist. That is a good place to check things out as well. Every little bit helps. |

Hi Mouse,
When I was learning to knit on my own, my favorites places to go were www.knittinghelp.com and www.knitting.about.com
If you know how to crochet (and even if you don't) let me recommend Continental knitting. In my humble opinion it goes faster and is smoother and easier to do. You don't have to let go of the yarn and seem to have better control.
Good luck and remember that learning anything new is slow going at first.

| Check out Raverlry. It is a website and organizational tool for both knitters and crochters. It not only has patterns and things, but also has forums where you can ask questions. |
