Hey Everyone,
Is anyone experiencing knee and foot pain?
I have been experiencing knee and foot pain for over 8 months.
My foot pain include ….swelling, pain in the arch area, and sometimes I hear my foot crack. My knee pain include .. tightness around the knee cap and sometimes I hear my knee crack.
Sometimes, both knee and foot pain causes me to limp or I have difficulty walking. My doctor told me that my knee pain is caused by inflammation.
Can my symptoms be a sign of arthritis? Also, can someone in their twenties experience arthritis? I thought it was only the elderly that has arthritis.
What are some ways that I can alleviate the pain?
Thanks,
Karen |

what activities are you doing and what kind of shoes?
I had started running awhile back and was getting alot of ankle up to my knees pain. I discovered I was wearing the complete wrong type of running shoe for my running style. There are different types of feet on the bottom wich makes your foot hit the ground differently. it is very important you wear good shoes...
Also, when the flat shoes really came in I was wearing them alot to work and getting alot of trouble with my legs too, lots of cramping swelling etc... I had never thought to put some arch support in!!! I have an arch so flat shoes aren't the smartest idea without some support. Anyways, those are just a couple quick ideas. |

Hi Karen,
Arthritis is possible at your age. Especially if it runs in the family. Happytobehere made a lot of good points. Proper shoes for the activities you do, arch support is very important. I found out from an MRI that my knee pain was caused by the full loss of the cartlidge behind my knee cap. What has helped me was to lose weight to reduce the amount of strain on my knees and also strengthen my back and leg muscles to lessen the strain. I still have pain though. I also wear a knee wrap/sleeve when I work out so that my knee cap tracks properly.
It doesn't hurt to check with your doctor about the pain and possibly see a specialist.
Hope you find relief. _________________ Cheers!

| I had severe foot pain----swelling in the arch and heel pain when I walked--turned out to be plantar Fasciitis--had to get orthotics--helped a lot. The knee pain I had was related to tightness in the foot, calf and hamstring area. So in fact, it was all related--so now stretching is a big part of my daily routine especially before and after a workout or running or tennis. I saw a chiropodist for the diagnosis. |

I've started to take a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement for my knee pain. Too early to tell if its effective but it came recommended by an ortho surgeon so I trust it will have a positive effect in time.
It comes in capsule, pill and liquid format. I am taking the capsule - the pill is just too large. Three a day is the dose but I have started with one a day and will soon increase to two per day. _________________ Cheers!
