i dont think there is any major difference except cost. If you buy the powered herbs and brew the tea yourself, yes it will take some time to do, 12 hours to be exact, u boil it and it sits on your stove steeping, then u bottle it up in mason jars that u have to sterilize. The ready made stuff, is just that, ready to go, but it costs more and u get less of it. So its down ot personal choice which one you use. Hope this helps.

Awesome, thank you so much! I`ve been doing a lot of research on alternative cancer treatments and really wanted to try the Essiac Tea, however, have read that normally it is only a Stage III treatment so have instead opted for the Baking Soda and Vitamin C treatment. I`ve also read that the quality of the herbs and how they are handled by the manufacturer are CRUTIAL to the effectiveness of the Essiac Tea. For these reasons, amongst others, I have strayed from Essiac for now, but I definitely think that it`s a GREAT product and might get my hands on some in the near future... maybe feed some to my mom =)

Wow... 12hrs to brew! But it would be much worth it if one gets their hands on a good quality product. If I were to do it, I would probably end up brewing the tea myslef.

Thanks again!

Essiac is a tea made from Indian rhubarb, Sheepshead sorrel, Slippery elm and Burdock root.
Investigations of the drug have indicated that it has no demostrable effect on cancer.
Renee Caisse, a public health nurse working in Ontario (Essiac is Caisse spelled backwards) operated a clinic in Ontario, where she dispensed Essiac. The authorities did not interfere with her work because she provided the recipe without charge, and limited it to people who believed their cases were hopeless.

Caisee gave the recipe to the Resperin Corporation, which submitted a Preclinical New Drug Submission (PNDS) on Essiac to Health and Welfare Canada. 2 hospitals were selected for a clinical trial, but neither were willing to treat a group of cancer patients with Essiac alone. Instead, it was decided to let family practitioners supervise Essiac treatment for terminal cancer patients.
In 1982, 112 physicians were asked to submit case reports. 74 responded with information on 87 cancer patients. Of these, 78 showed no benefit. Investigation of the 9 remaining cases revealed that 2 had died, cancer was progressing in 4, and 3 had stabilized.
Of this last group, all had standard treatments which could be expected to have stabilized the disease. As a result of this review the PNDS was revoked.
The U.S. National Cancer Institute tested Essiac and found no significant anti-tumor activity(*1). For these reasons, Health and Welfare Canada does not permit Essiac to be marketed as a drug. However, since the tea has not shown any harmful effects, the agency has historically authorized emergency releases of Essiac on compassionate grounds when desperate cancer patients ask for it.
The Essiac story resurfaces periodically in the newspapers and talk shows. The reason seems to be that it makes a great story.
Cancer patients have varying survival times. Any remedy that is used by a large number of patients can be expected to be used by someone who is a long term survivor.
It is understandable that they would attribute their good fortune to an unusual remedy (just like when someone turns 100 years-old and is asked to what do they attribute their longevity).
We need to understand that such people are not deliberately lying, they simply are letting coincidence pass for good evidence.

Essiac Tea is a great recipe that have been recommended by Natural Doctors, and Herbalists. I can personally say, it is a great product, and I have been drinking it for almost 2 yrs.
I fell very sick after a surgery, and a Herbalist heard my call for Help. She was a passionate woman when it came to her Herbs. She gave me, free of charge a bag of Essiac Tea, which I made and began to drink. Within 2 weeks I began to feel a difference, and to this day, drink it. Being so sick I can say, it's like I began to wake up.
Essiac is made from the Canadian Back woods, as most ingredients grow wild, sheep sorrel grows in ditches and rocky areas, it's known as sour leaf, burdock grows in pastures, and is known for it's thistle balls that stick to your childrens' clothing, and pets. Rhubarb root is grown in most canadian gardens, and slippery elm. I am one who grows and gathers her own, but I will not strip a tree for slippery elm, so I purchase that one ingredient, and make my own. I have seen here what is the best form to buy. The pureist which is the herb. It's best to make your own, but if you must buy it, get it in a bag, and having only those 4 herbs. There is another blend that has 8-or 9 herbs, and if any one wants that recipe I have it. I would recommend everybody drink this tea as it helps to detox our bodies from all the chemicals we are fed.
Brightest of Blessings

The Purest form, the Herb, if you buy it bottled, what's the point . This tea is meant to clean your system of toxins, so, you want to buy it the simplest natural form. If you have a garden, you can grow your own.

Has anyone used ESSIAC? I have heard recently from somebody whose mother has drank this tea about 10 years ago and she recovered from cancer. It is hard not to believe something like that when you hear the story from somebody who practically witnessed the whole experience, but sometimes is really hard to believe in miracles. Or maybe not...

How many of use have heard of Essiac or use it?

Angela

I have been making Essiac Tea for 2 yrs and would highly recommend it. I was very very sick when I first tried it, and quickly I began to waken. This tea helps to detox our bodies of all the chemical that gather from processed anything. I would highly recommend it.
Blessings

Thanks you guys for the posts. I'm thinking of buying Essiac for my dog who has melanoma and has undergone 2 surgeries, unfortunately in dog years he is really old so he can't undergo too many surgeries any more. If there are any more recent posts or updates from those who have used the product let me know, Good luck to everyone and thanks in advance.
