The price of them is quite high.
But the other day we were wandering
through Canadian Tire and picked up a
package of 3 flutter balls. a cloth ball with
feathers to make them interesting.
Got home and gave one to each cat and put
the last one away for when the others became
destroyed.
Well the cats love them as long as we are holding
them above their heads and they dance playing with them.
Put them on the ground and they walk away from them.
Later punkin came to my desk and jumped up as usual to
sit on my mouse arm. His favourite place.
Well I had a pop with a straw and he walked over stole
the straw and has been playing with the straw for 3 days
now. He carries it where ever he goes and holds one end
in his mouth and bats the other end.
So all the money and love that went into the purchase of
the flutter balls is sort of wasted.
Guess I will just have to keep a good collection of straws in
the house and he only likes the used ones.
Just like a child who sits in the big box the expensive toy came
in that Santa brought for christmas.
don't you just love little animals and children. Very Happy

I had so many expensive toys for my kitties. What it turnes out they acutally like:

1. A toy that was 5 bucks that basically hangs a poofy ball from a door knob. One of my little guys plays with it several times a day.
2. Twist ties
3. Q-Tips
4. The plastic circle thing you pull off the top of a 4L jug of milk.

Their actual 'toys' from the pet store live under couch gathering dust.

My sister gets her cat's toys from the grocery store,in the form of a cardboard box.The cats love it,it makes a great scratching type post .And,once it's been scratched beyond recognition, put it out for recycling, and go get another one.

Our cat also loves the plastic circle thing you pull off a 4l jug of milk! Today I opened a new jar of mayonnaise and off came a complete green plastic circle from the bottom of the lid. Oh joy, a new toy that Daisy loves and cost nothing!! Laughing

Neat ideas. However,I would be concerned about the cat getting the milk circle thing stuck in their mouth.

Our kitten was just newly added to our family in September. She had $40 in toys waiting at home before we even got her. My boyfriend just celibrated his birthday in October and wouldn't you know it, she stole the crumpled up ball of tissed out of a gift bag and is still playing with it. She carries it from room to room following us. *Sigh* The toys she has been ignoring since September (2 or 3 have been kept) have been given to our local animal shelter.
