| my husband always wanted his own dog to raise his way not the way his mom and stepdad raised the dogs he grew up with. I agreed to getting a dog to help ease my anxiety and to feel safer when my husband wasn't home. now that i have a dog If i ever decided to get another one it would be because they are so cute and entertaining. |

Sometimes we wonder too!!!!!
Actually, I can't image a home withtout a pet. We've had a budgie, tropical fish, two cats, a dog, two gerbils, three zebra finches, a canary, two lovebirds and many goldfishes during our 33 years of marriage. Only one left right now is our cat Teddy. |

He was so darned cute I had to rescue him from the pet store! The unconditional love he gives me too! I love that he's always happy to see me.
Seriously I always wanted a dog, just didn't know you could get dogs that don't shed or cause allergies. |

I enjoy having a pet because they are great companions. I adopted one cat but when my daughter moved int I adopted 4 more companions. |

We rescued our cat from the shelter, terribly abused by prior owners, pretty much wild and malnutrition. She is now a happy indoor cat who loves to watch the birds and squirrels (heaven help them if she ever got out) I don't think she will ever be a fat cat, she eats what she wants and with good food, always there for her, a consistent health check up etc and love and care from our family she has developed into a nice and loving cat. I recently had surgery and she seems to detect this, she stayed by my side the whole time (albeit loved to lie on my bad knee).
It is a pleasure to have such a loving friend and family member, I do not know what we will do when our eldest daughter finishes school and finds her own home, taking our kitty with her .....we will just have to find another and start over again _________________ Be an organ donor; give your heart to Jesus.

| 2 years ago we got our little girl as an 8 week old puppy! It was not the right time in our life then but we made it work! The person we got her from had her for 2 days and decided that her sensitive tummy was a problem better taken care of by the SPCA. Of course, I had to take her! I found an awesome vet with excellent prices who fully explained her tummy problems... her previous owner had been feeding her cat food instead of puppy food! Needless to say the tummy problems are long gone and we are left with our perfect little girl! A happy, healthy 90 pound beast! A huge change from the sick little 9 pounder we took in back then! I have always had pets that are what most would call someone else's rejects. The runt of the litter or the one with a bad tummy or a funny face- they all need love too! Animals love us unconditionally and I am one of those that will do anything for my pets! [/img] |

I have always had a cat since the age of 8. My first was a gift to get me to go for a much needed surgery. There have been 5 cats in total. @ have passed. 2 now reside with my parents as when I moved out they couldn't part with them. It was hard for myself to part with them as well. I recently got a little polydactil kitten (extra toes) as a companion. My boyfriend works out of town for 6 months out of a year and I just need someone (thing) to snuggle with and talk to so I don't feel crazy. LOL! Plus I hate think where she would have ended up if I hadn't taken her. She is my little cuddly mutant. |

My family had dogs and cats all through my childhood. My dogs were more then just pets they were my playmate, protector, confidant and companion all rolled in to one.
3 months ago my boyfriend and I took the big leap and adopted our first dog together. We adopted a Husky/Boxer cross from a pound (we call him our Busky baby). I could not have asked for a better companion. He reminds me every day to lighten up and enjoy life. When I'm sad or frustrated he curls up next to me and nuzzles away my tears. When I'm happy he celebrates my success with his boistrous excitement. |

| I suffer from agoraphobia and severe depression. Having my pets has saved my life in more ways than one. On a bad day, they snuggle with me, on a good day we play all day together. They don't care how I look, they love me as I am. A lot of people could learn from pets. Oddly I take a lot of comfort in grooming my babies. They like it because they get a treat at the end. |
