Good morning Jules,
Why can`t you wash your quilts on gentle cycle in the machine ?
that must be a very hard task, in the bathtub,,how in Heaven`s name do you manage to get them wrung out .and can`t you put them on the clothesline?.

Remember the trouble I had with the towels, trying to embroider them ?,
Well I did one on my Husquvarna ,With no problems whatsoever, and it`s beautiful. I don`t know what happened with the Futura because I did so many on it ,and then it just went nuts ,breaking needles left and rightand countless other problems .I can`t get over the difference,The Husquvarna was expensive but well worth the money.
well my daughter is coming to do my hair so I better get to my shower,Have a nice day .Alley

Hi Alley:

I live in an apartment building where we share machines in a special laundry room and I haven't seen any gentle wash on those machines. These quilts of my son are finished anyway and I will have to take them apart and remake them. Yes it is quite a job indeed but they sure turn out very clean. That is one way of washing the quilts. What I did was I used mom's old sheets before to quilt on and those were my first quilts. So you see it is no loss. I have the Dresden plates to salvage from all that since they are in good shape.

I am so happy Alley that you are doing great with your new machine. You get what you pay for and when you pay cheap you get cheap. Not all materials work well on every machine. The same holds true with threads - not all threads work well on some machines. The Husquevana is one of the very top machines on the market and well worth it. Take care of that great machine Alley. You can use your Futura for certain things and that machine can always come in good for some things.

Good Morning Jules ,
Don`t faint ,it`s just me back again,Been wondering how you areand thought it was time I found out .So how have you been?.
I`ve been doing Christmas gifts ,I made nightgowns (satin) Monogrammed ,for each of my daughters ,I don`t think I told you that I have Seven daughters ,We never had a son . I also made them for my grandaughters 4, I don`t ever want to work with satin again .,One pattern I had was cut on the bias, and a nightmare to hem,I made a mess of it but they`ll have to do ,I had another pattern that was cut the normal way,and it turned out pretty nice ,
I haven`t been feeling very well lately.I think it`s this darn Arthritis,,I really hurt and I have a doctor that doesn`t care, he thinks all older people should be put in a nursing home ,he never follows up on an illness ,he sends you for tests and then leaves you wondering how it turned out ,If you really want to know you have to make another appt
Not a very good doctor ,but what can you do? It`s so hard to get a doctor these days,My family doctor of many years standing ,retired and I was sent to this one I have now .I was in rehab after my stroke and heart surery and he came to see me once ,He said ,Oh yes I got all your reports From Sudbury ,I was so angry I said ,and did you read them? The nurse looked like she was going to faint ,But he deserved it ,He didn`t have an answer ,
I don`t want to go to an arthritis specialist as all they do is put you on medicine that can kill you or make you worse.so I guess I have to put up with it .Well I guess I`ve strained your eyes enough for one day .Hope your feeling fine and have a good day

Alley

Hi Alley:

I thought that you would be mighty busy with your new machine. I laughed about the kind of material you were working with and believe me it isn't an easy material to work with. The Japanese invented the rotary cutter and mat that looks like a pizza cutter to cut the material itself because otherwise it would swivel all over the place. LOL LOL. Quilters are using that to cut the material more precisely.

Speaking about arthritis and my quilting I am in a lot of pain with my hands and my arms are affected. I have been busy and still am putting binding on my quilt that I made for my daughter all by hand and I have to stop and then pick it up again and I am so anxious to get this quilt done.

Speaking about doctors you can't even find a family doctor here in Ottawa. My daughter and I went to a new doctor and both of us didn't like him so we are going back to our previous one. It is a good thing that we didn't have our files sent to the new guy. The doctor that we normally have is semi retired but is very thorough and spends time with his patients. You sure wait a long time to see him because he wants to go to the root of the problem and is friendly. The new doctor was a snob and at most 15 minutes with you and using the phone for private things and by the time he was off it was less than 15 minutes.

What you said about older people what they want to do is to put them in old age homes is right. People on this site think that I am nuts because I am in to all this doing research and it is called eugenics. Allie it isn't only for older people but for disabled people both mentally and physically as well as for people who have diseases in the family like diabetes, cancer, etc. It is like what Hitler wanted a pure race and that is no joke. We are all being poisoned by what is in the water (all the unnecessary chemicals) that is used to calm us all down and dumb us down, the air is full of dreadful chemicals, etc. Even the diseases going around is man made by labs. I know a great deal more and people here have literally called me a kook and Alley I don't want to come on this site and talk and if you wish e-mail me privately. The people here on the forum are totally illiterate in the way that they don't know what is going on and do not read. All they talk about are crazy things and I like to talk about sensible things. There are a few people that I talk to who know all about what is going on and the near future doesn't sound good at all.

Speaking about nursing homes our friend Robert who is Lebanese went and put his 80 year old mother in a nursing home that is private near the General Hospital and was paying $2000./month - that was her pension along with what the sons had to pay as extra - she had nothing for herself and wanted out of there and had a room of her own. Now he took her out of there and put her in a public nursing home where they take her pension, is sharing a room with someone else and they tagged her with an RFID chip (bracelet) so as to track her every move since she has 25% alzheimers disease. The sons went and sold her house and she knew nothing about it and they wanted the money since it was the sons who were paying for the house mortgage, etc. The sons just didn't care at all except for one son Robert and he is always with his mom every day but not the others. Those sons will be punished severely by God. Robert has lymphatic cancer and went to the house to work to take everything out of the house and the garage. He lost so much weight doing the work and it is possible that his cancer is back - we don't know. Robert said that God kept him alive this long to look after his mother.

Alley God gives us things in life to deal with. God gave you 7 daughters and you all look after one another. In Robert's family the boys don't care for the mother and she was widowed at age 40 and they lived in Africa as well. She lost her husband of heart disease along with another son with the same disease. They came to Canada searching for a better life and she never left her children and taught them about living in a frugal way. Today the sons are well but she is stuck in a nursing home since their wives don't want her - that is the Canadian and American way of throwing their elders into nursing homes. There is a great deal that I don't like about that family Alley and when I heard about this it made me resent these people even more so. Mom preferred to die than to go in those places and my eldest sister had a place to place mom but she died before going to such a place. I was completely against mom going to those places and I was glad in a way that she died because she wouldn't have to suffer living in such a place. Mom had alzheimers as well as cancer.

Alley all this eugenics thing has been going on for years and Obama's science czar John Holdren wrote a book on the poisoning of water, air, etc. A lot is written in the UN documents and on the internet as well. There are many secret societies governing the world like Club of Rome, the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergers, and many others and they are all for the elite of the world and for nobody else - we are all just slaves and this is what it is coming to with the time. I don't want to live in a world that they want to make. It is so sci-fi that I cannot live in a crazy world like that. If you hear that English PM Brown coming out with World Government and others like that then think of me. I don't imagine any of these things since they are all documented. Bush Sr. spoke in 1991 about Global Government and the thousand points of light. The thousand points of light refers to lucifer since they are all masons. It sounds nuts but it is all true. Well I will stop with this crazy truth but all truth.

Keep away from the vaccines Alley - it is those vaccines that will cause the disease. There is another person who is paralyzed both in a mental and physical state because of the vaccine in the US and she was a cheerleader for a baseball team in Chicago - yes the Chicago Cubs and is young. Many died of that H1N1 vaccine back in the 70's era but things were not spoken about then and many paralyzed. The vaccine killed the ferets back in Czecoslovakia and many in Austria near the border were very afraid and the chemicals still exist in the vaccine but the elites get a different shot with no harmful chemicals in them but the other for us to kill and maim the rest of us. I won't take the shots nor will my family. I have been looking into this for a while reading from doctors and scientists. Did you see what the Canadian Government Health Unit did to the First Nations of sending them body bags - this was a terrible insult. This went world wide on the net to show just what kind of insanity this government is up to.

You take care of yourself Alley because the care comes from yourself - doctors are not there to look after us. The hypocratic oath is no longer kept and all it is today is money like any other business. Me too I have arthritis and yes the medicines are all poisonous. The First Nations knew what herbs treat different ailments and to stay away from the "white man's medicine" which is very dangerous. There is a skater (American) by the name of Dorothy Hamil who was taking Viox and has some sort of a lawsuit going as well as many others - she became very sick taking that medicine. Stay as healthy as you can. Keep happy.

Hi JUles,
What you say is true,This is a wicked world and those that supposedly lead us are the worst.I already had the flu shot but declined the hini vaccine.
As I told you before I don`t like to read or dwell on what is going on ,I feel there is nothing i personally can do to alter anything ,We little people have no power ,If there was something I could do to make a better world ,I wouldn`t hesitate.I don`t know if I told you that i am deaf, and this seems to keep me isolated ,especially lately ,I have been deaf since I was 26, I do have some residual hearing which allows me to wear a hearing aid ,thank goodness .
The doctor that put my pessary in ,it`s still in there by the way.Was very unsympathetic and cold , when she asked me to consider surgery ,she said ,and I quote , You nust consider the quality of life ,,Jules a prolapsed womb is not life threatening mbut she thinks I should have the surgery even after The heart specialist said no ,I am too high risk for it,He said I would probably have a heart attack and stroke again and probably wouldn`t survive.
She didn`t like what he said. ,By the way I think she is East Indian ,I won`t mention her name here .
I just finished monogramming a sweatshirt and am pretty proud of myself
It`s not an easy thing to do on the machine ,I tried it on an old one ,
now I`l;l make the menfolk monogrammed sweatshirts for Christmas
They love them for hunting and fishing and I have lots of those kind of patterns .
Well Jules it`s getting close to suppertime <don`t feel very hungry but must eat something ,That`s a good idea ,using the cutter to do the satin ,I never even though of it ,I imagine it would cut a lot straighter .I`ll have to try it next time .
Talk to you again Jules ,

Hi Alley:

I just came back to the computer. I have been working on my quilt and before that I was talking to my husband.

You and I have quite a lot in common. Mom had a prolapsed womb after she had my middle sister. Joan weighed 13 pounds at birth and that was back in 1935 when she was born. My eldest sister was born in 1931 and me the accident came in 1951. Mom never had any insert put in for her prolapsed womb and all what the doctors tell you today is to make money and all part of eugenics. There is also euthenasia. Don't trust any doctor - just trust in yourself. Doctors are trained today to practice eugenics and euthenasia. We may be going into a communist style government around 2012 and I heard that again today. I don't sleep well at night after finding out so much. Life is short and all we can do is live the best way we can. The little kids of today will not have a life - live life as best we can just now. I know way too much and I know what is going to happen with the US and the president as well. I will keep quiet here and I can tell you that I was in tears today. I heard about that before but when you just hear a few say it and then you hear it from another reliable source it just hits. The same happened to JFK in 63 - yes the secret societies. You are right that we cannot do anything about it and the illuminati - secret societies know that and they are escalating things to happen sooner. Live life and be happy as we can. When people reach the age of 65 doctors can refuse to treat the patient. People who smoke - the same thing or take drugs.

Today my husband gave hell to his friend Robert about his mother being put in a nursing home and I told my husband to give him even more hell from me. Well God punishes people like that. Wait until they find out that our money is only fiat money - like monopoly money - no value. Wait until 2012 what is going to happen. People will not be able to own their homes either and everyone will work for the government. This is a very reliable source today and I heard others say the same. Enjoy what you all have now - nothing lasts forever.

People are mighty cruel indeed. There was a nice lady on the forum here who came to my defence. She too reads a lot like I do and listen to a lot of news that you don't get on mainline TV or radio. Anyway everything is controlled by the powers that be. So many people were killed delivering the truth. I won't say anything - I went to type it out and took it out. It is way too dangerous to talk.

One lady that I write to in Tasmania is originally from Australia and she made a mistake of putting down $50. for watermellons instead of $5.00 and I told her in an e-mail that I heard about hyperinflation that is going to come soon enough but I didn't think that it was already here. LOL LOL. I have mail to answer and she might have written back having a good laugh about her mistake.

Allie I have some good friends you, Liz, that lady in Tasmania and a list of other very nice people. It is good people like yourself that keeps this world going. I am going to put your name and e-mail in my addresses. I will send you a private e-mail just now before answering the others so as to give you my e-mail so you can write to me privately. If you write to Liz you give that lady my very best. I pray for her and Michael all the time and want that young man home as soon as possible. I know well too much more than what I should and I am not up till 1 a.m. for nothing. God help us all. I will write to you just now.

I just got a great deal. Very Happy I bought a used Brother Innov-is 1200 from a dealer here. The warranty is still good and she does the work if I was to have problems plus she gives lessons for minimal costs. I'll be doing a few of her courses come the new year.

This machine regular would have been 2200 I got it for 1000. I just could not pass this up. My old machine is going on 20 yrs and just does basics It is a Pfaff hobby 919 . Really good machine too. I'll use it for when I need to haul one to craft groups I sew with. Smile

The dealer showed me how it worked before I purchased it and went through the whole set up for over an hour. Whew....good thing there is a manual. Confused

It is a little overwhelming but I will just take it slow and figure it out one page at a time. The basic sewing stuff is fairly straight forward on it. Tonight I will attempt to figure out the embroidary part a bit. I bought a couple cheap pillow cases along the way and my son has already claimed them and put his order in. Too funny. Laughing

Can you tell how excited I am...babbling...babbling and so on.....

-------Krystal (so ummm...is there an intro place around here...I don't think I have been there yet.... Very Happy )

Hello Everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't been around for a while. Life on this side of the screen is non-stop and without boredom.

Michael has been in Afghanistan for 4 months. In a little over a week, he's going on leave for 2 weeks. He could have come home if he wanted to, but he decided that he would do a tour of Europe. As much as I'd love to hug him and have him here for a couple of weeks, I'd much rather he go out see the world as much as he can... I just wish I could go with him!

Alley and Jules have been keeping up with me via email and know what I've been up to with my machine. At the moment, I'm working on a Christmas tree wall hanging to send Michael for Christmas. The star and the ornaments were embroidered on glitter felt and then cut out and attached to the quilted tree. Actually, this thing is going to be quilted twice. I made the tree in sections, each section being quilted before I sewed it all together. Then I appliqued it to the top. The end results will be a quilted tree on a quilted wall hanging.

Krystal... Congrats on the machine. Have fun learning! I've had my machine over a year now, and I have barely scratched the surface of its potential.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Thanks for the welcome Peaches, I plan on taking some embroidary lessons with the dealers shop. She is a very knowledgable person and her courses are very reasonably priced. She has new classes starting in the new year. What I want to do is figure out how to get designs from the computer to the sewing machine. It came with the cable and has the capabilities. Lots of fun features.----Krystal

Hi Krystal...

Alley and I both have the Singer Futura 350. The Futura machines are interfaced to computer via a cable also. As with our machines, you should have a software program that you would install on your computer. Then, its just a matter of collecting designs and downloading them onto your computer.

On my computer, I have 3 hard drives... one, devoted entirely to the designs I have... over 20 thousand and still collecting! ... and I still have 98% free space on that drive.

About 15 minutes later...

I did a search on your make and model machine. Brother has some fairly nice free designs... I snagged some while I was looking. If that confuses you, the Futura 350's program can read and convert nearly all of the design formats in the program.

Anyways, it looks like your machine is going to work way differently than mine and Alley's Futuras. So, we're not going to be much help to you on technical issues, but you'll certainly have our moral support.

I was playing for a bit on my machine today. Just starting to figure out the embroidary part to it now. SO much to learn.

Sounds like I should think about having extra space to store patterns in teh future. Something to think about. Thanks.

This is why I will be taking the lessons that my dealer will be giving in the new year. She will be teaching techniques and tips on how to use the machine the best way.

Hopefully by then I will at least have the basics down. Very Happy

That's the spirit, Krystal... full steam ahead!

The shop I got my Futura from, has a certified Singer instructor that gives lessons. When I bought my machine, I got 3 two hours free instructions. But, I learned more on my own than I did from her. She gave me the basics, and it was up to me to figure out what I can and can't do with the machine.

When you start collecting your designs, give some thought about how you want to organize them. I chose to file mine by category, but then found myself saving certain design sets in stand alone folders. For example, I've purchased a great many sets from the My Fair Lady designer that are part of a series of designs known as Cinderella Bridal that is basically flowers and vines. Instead of putting them in the "Floral" folder, I decided to keep them separated. When I download designs, I open the zip file, create a folder with the design's name and then extract the files into that folder. Then I move the zip file into that folder. Every 2 or 3 months or so, I go through and make a backup CD of those zip files in case, heaven forbid, my computer crashes.

If you set up some sort of system for filing your designs, regardless of how many designs you have, you will know where to start looking to find a particular design that you've filed.

Enjoy your machine. I look forward to reading about your experiences with it.
