Hello Everyone!
My son has a music recital coming up. Each family was asked to bring some finger foods.
I don't want to bring anything too sweet..(kids and sugar, don't mix)Anyone have any suggestions?

I posted this in another thread but I'll post it again for you. If you scroll down and look for Appetizers for a large crowd, you'll see many suggestions there.

COOL VEGETABLE PIZZA APPETIZER

2 cans 8oz. refrigerator Crescent Rolls
1 pkg. cream cheese
1/2 cup salad dressing (Miracle Whip)
1 tsp. dill weed
1/2 tsp. onion salt
1 cup small broccoli flowerets
1 cup green, red OR yellow peppers, chopped
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/2 cup Kalamotoe olives, sliced

Heat oven to 375 deg. Unroll dough into 4 triangles. Press on bottom & sides of cookie sheet. Bake 11-13 min. till golden. Cool completely.
Mix cream cheese, salad dressing, dill and onion salt till well blended. Spread on crust. Top with remaining ingredients. Cut into 2 " squares.

mini pita, opened and filled with shredded carrot, black olive, dived tomatoes, feta (optional), and any other vegetables you want.

cook up some focaccia and cut into small squares or triangles or even rectangles. with a dressing on the side of oil and balsamic.

sliced tomatoes with half a bocconchino (cheese) sprinkle with dried basil, drizzle with olive oil.

sushi - do they sell bulk at Costco?

Sushi is a great idea - yum!

Funnily enough, we're having a couple over for dinner tomorrow night, and we've decided to go "tapas style", which means finger foods galore!

On the menu:

bbq'd shrimp skewers (peel and eat shrimp)
my husband's homemade bean dip with corn and jalopeno peppers
pea guacamole (2 avocados, mashed with a can of peas for freshness and lightness -- plus garlic, lemon juice, & other spices)
baked pita chips, rice crackers and taco chips
fresh carrots, peppers, celery, mushrooms
apple wedges
aged cheddar cheese slices, & maybe some French bread
a couple of dips from Epicure selections (based in Victoria - I LOVE their delicious gourmet pre-prepared herbs mixtures, which you simply mix with sour cream and mayo)

Our friends are vegetarian, otherwise I'd add bbq'd chicken or pork strips.

I love finger foods, but this is the first time we're serving tapas for dinner! This list has made me hungry Smile

Let us know what you serve for the recital -- I'd love some new ideas.

Laurie

Hi - I don't really have a recipe for this but you can make phyllo triangles like spanikopita but with pumpkin filling. I made these to take to a pool party and they went like mad!

I used purchased phyllo; prepare according to package directions.

Filling:
1 can pumpkin (not pie)
1-2 eggs (depending on size of can)
cinnamon, clove, ginger to your liking (about 1 tsp and 1/2 tsp of others)
approx. 1/4 tsp. cayenne
(you could also substitute the pumpkin spices for curry as well).

Mix well and place dollop in each; fold, brush with butter and bake per package directions.

Yummy!

Hello there, I just joined CL today, and I'm not sure if the recital is over that you needed recipes for...but I have found this great recipe for finger food for kids:

Kids love pizza, and these are the perfect size for little fingers!
