My dog will eat anything except he often dont' want his kibble (Pedigree Healthy Maturity)...he is just over 10 years now and I have to mix it with soft food every meal now, and even then he won't eat it all the time...he's not starving, but I have no idea what to do other than change his food!!?? Any ideas?

I have heard that dogs can have thyroid problems as they mature, and it especially affects males. This might be why he's being more finicky. Or, he's just mature and has figured out he can make you feed him whatever he pleases! My cat's not even 2 and he's figured that one out. Lord help me.

My 14 1/2 year old Calico Cat Monti, gets pretty much whatever she wants at this point in her life. I was never big on giving people food, but I figure she's lived this long, she deserves treats, within reason. She LOVES olives, black & green. I can't even bring a Subway sub into the house or she goes nuts! If I'm cooking something with them I will chop a couple up & put them in her "treat bowl". It's a bowl I keep on the floor, next to her water glass (yes, glass, will NOT drink out of anything plastic, or a bowl of any kind, I once tested it and she went all day without any water before I gave in I felt so bad). The treat bowl exists to minimize begging when she see/smells something she likes. If it's not in the treat bowl, she doesn't get it. Lucky for her, I'm not the cleanest cook, so she's learned that being near my feet while at the counter can translate into all kinds of wonderful things for her. Loves any seafood, raw bread dough (a discovery made by accidentally dropping some), and last weekend I was making Lamb & Winter Vegetable Stew (a CL recipe lol) and dropped a tiny bit of raw lamb on the floor. She went bananas, but of course wasn't getting anymore. After it was cooked & we were eating she was still chirping & looking at us, so I took out a little piece of now cooked lamb & she wouldn't touch it!! She also goes crazy for yogurt, sour cream, and feta cheese. She used to eat canned mushrooms right out of the can by sticking a paw in, grabbing one & eating piece by piece.

Well, what does he not?

My Zeke is a 10 monyh old neutered kitty. Still chews/eats cardboard, newpaper (wish he did not, can't be good for him). Likes just about all food... was amazed yesterday to see him licking up some sugar that had spilled onto the counter!

Honestly, he gets the very healthiest kitty food! Not to mention tons of love and attention.

my dog duke will eat anything. he went through a phase where he would eat kleenex but a few months of "Chew on your Bone (rawhide treat) not the kleenex!" and bringing him his bone to replace what he was chewing on and he doesn't do it anymore. That same expression works for when he chews on his toys. He was tought that he had to sit before he gets a treat from us so even when we drop food on the floor he still looks for permission before he eats it.
I learned from watching his habits that he only eats his food when he's hungry, he'll eat people food whenever it's offered, he won't eat when he's home alone, and he likes to eat at night the best. His water has to be at room temperature unless it's from the tap. One thing that he does which is really cute is picks his treat by tapping one of two bags that we hold out to him. and instead of giving paws he understands Say please for one paw and say thank you for the other.
We don't think he eats enough but the vet says he's very healthy. he is a sherperd/boxer cross. He's 80 pounds at 5 years old. He loves to play and runs to all the people he knows for attention. I don't think I could have asked for a better animal.

Our spinone Bruno luvs carrots and apples. He also luvs popcorn or anything with melted butter on it, which I guess isn't weird cause who doesn't luv that? Laughing He is allergic to wheat gluten though, so I make him his dog biscuits myself!

Something really odd, though.

When we go out to our house in the country - which is where we really live, just in the city re DH's recent illness - Zeke does not eat anything weird! He does not go outside there, either, and we certainly have about as many boxes etc. lying around.

Indeed, he is altogether rather a different kitty out there - much more sober and responsible. Go figure.

H. sh... what is my name here??? Ah, got it... kitty's name!

Our 7 month old puppy, who is a cross between a Jack Russell and a Shih Tzu goes bonkers for carrots. It has to be a baby carrot tho, not the regular size ones. He gets a speciality brand dog food, free of wheat. The same brand of treats, wheat free are also his cookies. He will eat fruit sometimes, but his thing is veggies, I have no idea why.
