Hi all,
I hope someone out there can help me. I am developing carpal tunnel and my physiotherapist is recommending that I stop knitting. I don't want to but I think I may have to. I have a large stash of wool and a whole bunch of people waiting for stuff, so I was wondering if anyone has used a knitting machine and which one would they recommend for me to get. Any help would be appreciated because I don't want to give up one of my favourite hobbies.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried Knifty Knitters, aka Loom Knitting? If you do a search on the web you will find lots of references to people that have the same problem not experiencing any difficulty using these looms.
Good luck! |

I haven't had experience w/knitting machines, but I have had experience w/carpal tunnel. I was told in 1998 that I had done all of the physical therapy that I could - the next step would be surgery. I had heard that accupuncture was effective IF done before surgery and the scar tissue had developed. I started accupuncture at that time and have avoided surgery since. It will occasionally flair up from knitting, gardening or anything else that has a repetative impace on my wrist - I just go in and "get a tune up" and I'm good to go. One of my coworkers was suffering from carpal tunnel and tried accupuncture - he's was very happy with the results.
I can't imagine giving up knitting - it really relaxes me!! Good Luck! |

| Thanks for the great idea, it didn't occur to me to get accupuncture for this although it has done wonders for my back. I really don't want to give up knitting it keeps me sane. |

Hi Cathy,
I'm not sure where you'd find one but if you can get your hands on an LK150 by Studio or Silver Reed? you should find it very versatile. I do!

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to try to find a dealer around here. Sometimes it can be so very difficult to find slightly different things in a small town.
