Flounder

any of a variety of flatfish of the order Pleuronectiformes, with eyes on one side of the body (usually on the right side, but there are some species with eyes on the left). Different species of flounder are found in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans; plaice, dab and sole are all types of flounder, although they are sold under these other names. Flounder is mild in flavor and well suited to a variety of cooking methods.
