Fruit Leather

Puréed fruit spread thinly on a baking sheet or large pan and left to dry and form a chewy, leathery solid. The sheet of dried fruit is then cut into rectangles or long strips and eaten as a snack. Fruit leather is a popular snack for children and can be found in many forms at the grocery store. More-natural versions (without added sugar, colorings or flavorings) are easy to find in natural food stores and can also be made at home (with or without a mechanical dehydrator).
