Hamburger Bun

A round, slightly domed yeast roll, usually made with all-purpose flour, but sometimes from whole wheat flour or other grains, split in half horizontally for serving sandwiched around a hamburger. Traditional hamburger buns are often soft, spongy and absorbent, the perfect foil for the ketchup, mustard, relish and other condiments typically slathered over a burger. Some are flavored with herbs or onions, and many come topped with sesame or poppy seeds.
