As a follow-up to the ever-popular chocolate chips and to satisfy the North American appetite for all things peanut, peanut butter-flavored chips for baking were created in the latter half of the 1900s. Since both are often used in the same recipe, Hershey's introduced combination chocolate-peanut butter chips in 2002.
