Pernod

Anise-flavored liqueur produced by entrepreneur Henri-Louis Pernod in the distillery he opened in the French town of Pontarlier in 1805. He was the first to legally produce this type of anise liqueur after absinthe was outlawed. The drink is mixed with water, the usual ratio being one-third Pernod to two-thirds water. See also ouzo.
