1. (v.) to preserve or cure a food in a salty, flavored brine or vinegar solution. 2. (n.) a food that has been pickled in brine or vinegar, such as cucumbers, cocktail onions, peppers or hot pepper rings. See also bread-and-butter pickle, dill pickle, tsukemono.
