Rainbow Trout

Also silver trout, steelhead. A freshwater fish that also adapts to salt water, Oncorhynchus mykiss can be found filleted or whole, fresh or frozen in supermarkets or caught in the wild (its fighting spirit makes it a good catch for sportfishermen). Common in North America, it is stocked in the Great Lakes and caught along the Pacific shore. Popular for its firm, tasty flesh, rainbow trout has been exported for aquaculture to countries around the world. See also trout.
