A frozen dessert similar to ice cream but made with fruit juice, sugar and water; it can also contain milk and eggs. The name comes from a Turkish word designating a Middle Eastern drink of sweetened fruit juice and water, from the Arabic word sharâb, meaning "to drink." See also sorbet.
