The goodness of green, red and white iced teas

An ice-cold, delicious and refreshing glass of iced tea is an iconic summertime thirst-quencher – but there’s more to iced tea than meets the taste buds.

NESTEA Vitao enhanced iced tea is an exciting option with something extra for both iced-tea lovers and newcomers to the world of tea. Made from real tea leaves – which provide naturally occurring antioxidants – NESTEA Vitao also provides calcium and the antioxidant benefits from added vitamins C and E. As Canadians become more conscious of their antioxidant intake, they’ll reach for a NESTEA Vitao enhanced iced tea as the smart choice to top up your intake of antioxidants, vitamins and calcium – and it really does taste great.

NESTEA Vitao enhanced iced tea offers a range of flavour options including white, red and green teas. Each type contains 10 per cent real fruit juice with no preservatives or artificial sweeteners.

  • NESTEA Vitao Fuji Apple Green Tea is made from premium whole-leaf green tea and contains natural tea antioxidants. The light, refreshing tea taste has the crisp flavour of Fuji apples.
  • NESTEA Vitao Acai Blueberry Red Tea combines the mellow tea taste of the South African Red Bush rooibos with the subtle flavours of exotic acai (pronounced a-sy-ee) berries and natural blueberry.
  • NESTEA Vitao Mandarin Orange White Tea uses handpicked immature tea-leaf buds that are minimally processed to preserve their antioxidants. The subtle flavour of mandarin oranges provides a perfect counterpoint to the light, delicate taste of white tea.

Tea types and antioxidants
Green, white, black and oolong tea are all derived from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis evergreen shrub. The difference in antioxidant content occurs in how the tea leaves are processed after harvest. White tea retains the highest amount of antioxidants because it undergoes the least amount of processing. Green tea is processed more than white tea, but less than black tea and contains a level of antioxidants between white and black teas. Black tea contains the least amount of antioxidants because it goes through more processing. Red tea or Rooibos (pronounced “roy-boss”) tea isn’t actually from a tea plant at all. This caffeine-free “tisane” or herbal tea is derived from a flowering bush and also contains antioxidants.
