Coffee, tea...or milk?

A healthy diet can include a variety of drinks, but find out how milk could help you reach your healthy weight goals.

Coffee, tea...or milk?
Ever notice that you often plan what you’re going to eat in a day, but don’t give a second’s thought to what you drink? 14 to 18 per cent of our calorie intake is met by beverages. "What that means is beverages can really add up and play an important part in achieving and maintaining your healthy weight." says registered dietitian Lois Ferguson.

What are you drinking to reach your healthy weight goals?

It's a good idea to start thinking about the different beverages you drink during the day, says Lois. Water, tea and milk are all great choices, and milk specifically can help with healthy weight goals. "In fact, studies show that women who drink milk regularly tend to be leaner than women who don't."

How to get more milk into your diet

"Adding more milk products to your diet is really quite easy, delicious and nutritious," says Lois.

• Start your day with a quick, great-tasting smoothie for breakfast.

• Always drink a glass of milk with your lunch.

• After you work out, get in the habit of recharging your energy with a carton of chocolate milk.

Milk is a great way to rehydrate and help you reach your weight loss goals. Discover how to fortify your diet with milk at yourhealthyweight.ca >>
