Running
Running is one of the best cardiovascular workouts, and you can do it anywhere, with practically no equipment! Most beginning runners stop because they injure themselves; take care not to be one of them.
Helpful tips:
• Check with your doctor before starting any new cardiovascular exercise routine.
• Start slowly and build up gradually to avoid burnout and discouragement.
• You should still be able to carry on a conversation for most of your run.
• Keep your head upright, back straight, shoulders back, hips forward, legs flowing forward and stomach in.
• Relax your upper body and let your arms swing slightly.
• Land on your heel with your feet about hip-width apart, then roll forward and push off with your toes.
• Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, especially in the winter, as cold temperatures can be hard on your throat.
