Dreams do come true

Try a little pillow talk with our dream analyst.

By Layne Dalfen, dream analyst and author of Dreams Do Come True: Decoding Your Dreams To Discover Y

What it means
"Let's start with the party," I said. "What comes to mind when you think of an elegant party?"

"An elegant party is fun and exciting. The word elegant reminds me of a wedding or something big."

"What about when the men suddenly start shooting everyone?"

"It was something I was excited about that turned bad."

"Is there anything in your life right now that started off exciting but turned bad?"

I could see Rebecca's face change as she made the connection.

"Well, there's this guy. I really liked him. And a number of my friends warned me that he'd cheat on me. But I was having so much fun, I didn't listen to them! Well, he cheated on me. I thought I knew him, but I didn't."

"That makes me think of the men at the party, who are first dressed in nice clothes and then suddenly dressed in black with their faces covered," I said.

"Yes, he's just like them," Rebecca said. "He's someone I thought was nice who I suddenly didn't recognize."

The solution
The party's over for Rebecca, but her dream offers her a source of strength to face her current situation. Even though she was shot right in the head she not only survives, but even runs away and saves herself!

Her mother is hit, and can't help her. This may mean that the people Rebecca would normally depend on can't help her now. Maybe Rebecca feels especially helpless — her "inner strength" is hit. But still she realizes that deep down, in a place where she can't see it, she had her "cell phone" all the time — her own ability to help herself. She just needs to reach in and use it!
