With thousands of toys on the market, it can be difficult for parents and other family members to choose one that will be entertaining, educational and most of all, safe.
Despite Canadian regulations, not every toy on our market is safe, so knowing what to look for can help the gift-buyer avoid hazardours and potentially life-threatening toys.
Two important cosiderations to take into account when buying toys are age-appropriateness and solid construction. Be sure to read the label to determine if the toy is meant for your child's age group and take note of any safety or warning messages. Also, ensure the toy is sturdy and well-crafted.
For children -- particularly those under the age of 3 -- check to see that the toy does not include any small parts or small pieces that could break off and pose a choking hazard.
