By: Kate Daley
Did you go out and buy new furniture made just for kids? Or did you re-purpose what you already had? Here's a few fun furniture ideas for kid's desks. Plus, read on for a D.I.Y. project by one reader who made her bookshelf into a desk for her daughter!
But first, here's a few of the favourite projects we've seen. A repurposed crib made into a desk:

And here's an idea that one of our readers sent in for making a basic bookcase into a child's desk:

Here's what you need to make your own:
  • Ikea Billy Bookcase (or other similar bookcase)
  • Home Depot picture frames wallpaper
  • Ikea tension curtain rod
  • Ikea  orange baskets for crayons (clipped on using curtain clips from the tension rod)
  • Ikea paper roll
  • 3M hooks for any hats or accessories
Dress up your basic bookshelf with some fun wallpaper, attach a curtain rod and use clips to hold crayons or other writing utensils. All you need is a pint-sized chair and your child is set. Share your favourites!
