How to make a butterfly mask

By: Aurelie Bryce

Here's what you'll need:
-Downloadable butterfly mask template. Click here for the template.
-Paper half-mask form
-Scissors
-Elastic (or cut an elastic band)
-Glitter felt, or any desired colour
-Glue
-Rhinestones, beads, feathers, or other decorations

Step 1: Download, print and cut out the butterfly template.

Step 2: Use butterfly template to cut felt into the appropriate shape.

Step 3:
Measure your child's head and subtract 2 inches. Use this measurement to cut elastic to size. Thread the elastic through the holes in the mask form and knot into place, hiding the knots on the reverse side of the mask.

Step 4:
Apply glue onto mask form and cover with felt butterfly. Trim any sections of the mask form that are not covered with felt. Cut out eyes.

Step 5: Decorate your butterfly mask with beads, rhinestones, feathers and glitter, using glue to affix the decorations.

Tip: Fit a headband with pipe cleaners curled into spirals at the ends to create butterfly antennae.
