How to make a cosy crocheted buggy blanket

You need:
• 50% baby alpaca/50% merino mix light worsted (DK) yarn, such as Rooster Almerino DK W 1 x 1-3/4oz (50g) ball-approx. 124 yards (112.5m)-each of off-white (A), blue-green (B), bright pink (C), pale blue, pale pink, green, yellow, orange, dark purple, purple, and lilac
• W G/6 (4.5mm) crochet hook

Abbreviations:

ch chain; dc double crochet; hdc half double crochet; rep repeat; RS right side; sc single crochet; ss slip stitch; st(s) stitch(es); yo yarn over hook

Special abbreviation:

dc3tog (double crochet 3 together decrease) *yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull yarn through, yo, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook). Without finishing st, rep from * in each of next 2 sts (4 loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through all 4 loops on hook

Finished size:

Approx. 20 x 25in. (50 x 62.5cm)

Gauge:

15 sts x 8 rows over a 4in. (10cm) square working double crochet using a G/6 (4.5mm) hook.

To make:
Blanket
Change colour on each row.
Using first color, make 83ch.
Row 1: 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in next ch, *1dc in each of next 3 ch, dc3tog over next 3ch, 1dc in next 3-ch, 3dc in next ch; rep from * ending last rep with 2dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: 3ch, 1dc in first st, *1dc in each of next
3 sts, dc3tog over next 3 sts, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, 3dc in next st; rep from * ending last rep with 2dc in top of turning chain, turn.
Change color.
Rep Row 2 another 48 times more, making
a total of 50 rows.
Fasten off.
Edging:
Round 1: With RS facing, join A in fasten off st.
Side 1 (Top):
1ch, 1sc in each of next 2 sts, 1hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, 1hdc in each of next 2 sts, *1sc in next 3 sts, 1hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, 1hdc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * to last
2 sts, 1sc in next st, 4sc in corner st.
Side 2:
*Make 2sc in each color down side, 4sc in corner st.
Side 3:
Working on bottom chain of Row 1 of blanket, 1dc in each of next 2 sts, 1hdc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * from Side 1 to last 6 sts, 1sc in each of next 3 sts, 1hdc in each of next 2 sts, 1dc in next st, 4sc in corner st.
Side 4:
Rep Side 2 to last st, make 4sc in corner st, ss in first ch from Side 1.
Fasten off.
Round 2: Using B, make 1sc in each st around blanket, making 4sc in each corner st, join with a ss in first st.
Round 3: Rep Round 2.
Fasten off.

Pompoms:
(Make 4)
Using C, wrap the yarn around three or four fingers approx. 80 times. Gently slide the yarn off your fingers and tie a knot in the center very securely. The pompom will now have loops on either side of the knot. Cut all the loops; trim and fluff the pompom into shape.

Finishing:

Sew in ends.
Sew one pompom onto each corner of the blanket.
