As you might already suspect, I'm the biggest quilting nerd of them all. So when I heard that The Modern Quilt Guild is holding its very first juried quilt show and conference, I nearly hyperventilated myself into oblivion. QuiltCon will bring together some of the most talented modern quilt creators and teachers from around the planet, including some home-grown Canadian talent. The keynote speaker is Denyse Schmidt (a hero around this office), and some of my favourite quilt bloggers and designers will be there, sharing their knowledge and a few laughs. I don't know if I could hold back the girlish squealing if I met these folks. It looks like an action-packed schedule, and I'm pretty sure I'll have to bring a couple extra suitcases to haul back all the fabric and notions I'll find in the vendors' section. Now I just have to figure out how to fund this trip and the thousands of dollars in overweight baggage charges I'll incur. For those of you who are as into quilting as I am, registration for QuiltCon opens August 30, 2012. I hope I'll see you there!
