Quilting Bee Catch-Up
Hi again, This weekend I finally had some time to cross a few things off my crafty to-do list. (It feels so good to finally be caught up!) On top of that list were the blocks for the Maple Leaf Bee, the virtual quilting bee I'm participating in. Some how I'd managed to make it to the end of May without tackling this month's block – and don't even ask me about April! But on Sunday night I finally sat down at my sewing machine, and it wasn't long before I made some progress (thanks, in a large part, to some speedy
half-square triangles). Here are April's blocks, made for
Heather. They're made with vintage sheets, following the instructions from the
pinwheel quilt-along over at
P.S. I Quilt.
The May block is for
Lesly. She chose a foundation-pieced scrappy spider web block. I wasn't sure about it (I've had mixed results with foundation piecing) but it turned out to be lots of fun!
I do wish I'd played around with the arrangement a bit more...there are a couple places where scraps match up, and next time I'd try to avoid that. Live and learn, as they say. It won't be long before it's time to tackle the June block (
Colourwheel Geese – another challenge!) for Brenda. I'm looking forward to it!
