Row 1 (right side): K1, [p1,k1] to end of row.

Cont even in St st until work from beg measures 19(20.5,21.5) cm/7-1/2(8,8-1/2) ins, placing st marker at each end of last row and ending with right side facing for next row.

Cast off 4 sts at beg of every row 18(19,20) times. 3 sts now on needle.

To finish:
Sew shoulder seams. Place markers 16.5(18,19.5) cm/6-1/2(7,7-3/4) ins down from shoulder seams on front and back side edges. Sew cast-off sleeve edges between markers. Sew side and sleeve seams.

Fold hood in half so right sides are together and side edges are even; sew centre-back seam from markers to fold. Turn under first 4 rows of cast-on edge to form drawstring casing; sew in place. Sew side edges of hood around neck edge, leaving ends of casing open.

Drawstring
You will need a partner. Cut 2 strands of yarn, each 122 cm/48 ins long. Hold both strands together at 1 end; have your partner hold both strands together at the other end.

Twist strands clockwise until they begin to curl. Fold twisted strands in half and knot the 4 ends together; the twisted strands will now twist themselves together again, giving you a 4-ply drawstring.

With bodkin or large safety pin, insert into casing; knot rem end.
