Baby llama yarn comes in great colours and is super soft – perfect for neckwear.

Take a look at a larger image of the finished cowl.

Size:
• One size fits most.
• Laid flat, finished cowl measures 18 cm (7 inches) high and 24 cm (9-1/2 inches) wide, after blocking and drying.
• See Designer's note for information on increasing the finished size.

You need:
• 2 skeins (50 g/75 m each) Mirasol Miski, 100 per cent baby llama (shown here: Rust, Chamoise)
• 5 mm circular knitting needle (40 cm/16 inches long)
• 6 mm circular knitting needle (40 cm/16 inches long)
• Stitch marker
• Cable needle
• Tapestry needle

Tension:
15 sts and 20 rows = 10 cm (4 inches) in stocking stitch using 6 mm needle, or needle size required to obtain tension. To save time, take time to check tension.

To make:
With smaller needle, cast on 96 sts. Join to work in round, taking care not to twist sts. Place stitch marker to mark beginning of round.

Rnds 1 to 5: *K4, p2. Repeat from * to end of rnd.

Changing to larger needle, work cable pattern as follows:

Rnds 1 to 4: *K10, p2. Repeat from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 5: *C10L, p2, k10, p2. Repeat from * to end of rnd.
Rnds 6 to 9: *K10, p2. Repeat from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 10: *K10, p2, C10L, p2. Repeat from * to end of rnd.

Work Rnds 1 to 10 once more.
Work Rnds 1 to 9 once more.

Changing to smaller needle, work final five rounds in ribbing as follows:

Rnds 1 to 5: *K4, p2. Repeat from * to end of rnd.

CO all sts according to pattern.

Hand-wash cowl according to yarn label instructions. Lay flat to dry and block to specified measurements.

Glossary:
C10L (Left-cable over 10 stitches): Place first 5 sts on cable needle and hold in front of work. Knit next 5 sts, then knit 5 sts from cable needle.
CO: cast off
k: knit
p: purl
rnd(s): round(s)
st(s): stitch(es)

Designer's notes:
• To ensure a comfortable fit, cast on and off loosely.
• For a larger cowl with more drape, increase total number of cast-on stitches by a multiple of 24; work pattern according to instructions provided. You will need at least one more skein of yarn.
