Make your hair the hit of the holidays with these three low-fuss hairstyles:
1. The elegant bun: Anthony loves the look a modernized, upswept bun as worn by actress Salma Hayek at last year's Academy Awards. To achieve your own glamourous red-carpet look, apply root-lifting foam onto towel-dried hair to add volume. Try Marc Anthony's Instantly Thick Root Lifting Foam. When your hair is about 90 percent dry, set it in Velcro rollers (if you are going to a party after work, set your hair in curlers either the night before or the morning of your event). Rollers add lift to hair and help it to "grip" a style. Remove rollers after hair is completely dry and use your fingers to gently tousle. Using the tips of your ears as guides, divide your hair into a front and back section. Use a natural bristle brush to smooth the back section into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic that closely matches your hair colour. Use a wide-tooth brush to gently backcomb random sections of the ponytail -- starting at the base -- to add height and volume. Gently smooth the teased surface with a comb. Starting at the top of the ponytail, take individual sections and loop hair under itself, pinning ends at the base of the ponytail. Repeat as you work clockwise around the ponytail until the last section is in place.
To complete the look, create a side part in the front section of your hair, sweep both sides back and secure with bobby pins. To protect your look from frizz and flyaways, apply Marc Anthony's Strictly Curls Humidity Shield Finishing Spray.
2. Tousled and sexy: The flowing curls seen in seasons past have been replaced by hair that is cut in multiple layers to achieve lots of movement. "Textured, flowing voluminous hair is dominating this season's look," says Anthony. Bangs should be cut long to fall between the nose and chin.
Follow the instructions above for setting your hair in rollers but instead of putting hair into a ponytail, leave it down and part hair either on the extreme left or right, on the crown. Apply a shine-enhancing product such as Marc Anthony's Moisture Gloss Color Extender to add life to your tresses. Sweep bangs behind your ear or secure near your ear using a decorative pin.
3. Elegant accessories: Anthony's holiday forecast for shorter hairstyles is ultra-sophisticated and accessorized with elegant hair barrettes and jewelled pins. Use Velcro rollers to add volume to your hair and pin sections of hair near the nape of your neck using decorative pins -- or group hair into a single barrette. "Hair will look as if it is up," says Anthony.
A wash-'n-go approach won't make your holiday hair wishes come true because sophistication takes some effort -- the good news is not much is needed. Anthony's holiday hairstyles prove that simple techniques, a few gadgets and your favourite accessories are all you need to achieve fabulous fast.
