Imagine competing at the Olympics with your sibling. How amazing would it be to land on the same podium? And then imagine trying to beat your sibling to win a gold medal? Well, that's exactly what it's like for François and Charles Hamelin. The brothers from Sainte-Julie, QC, are going for gold in Sochi and we're excited to watch them. Read on for some interesting facts about these Olympians.

"Our mom's spaghetti is our favourite meal when we’re home. It is also the best one ever made! François really loves cheese and our favourite treat is different kinds of candy." 2. François picked up the sport before his older brother. François randomly picked up speed skating after their mom asked him to expend his energy outside the house. And lucky for both of them, Charles decided to give it a try, too. 3. They keep their rivalry off the ice. "We are competitors, but we leave the rivalry on the ice. Off the ice we spend a lot of time together and we try to help each other the most we can," they both agree. 4. Sports have made them better at... "I definitely became a better person by dedicating my life to a sport," says François. "The work ethic that you have to develop and understand when you want to be the best in Canada or in the world are very good values that will be useful for all the other goals in my life." Some of the things they've learned from speed skating are: determination, perseverance, confidence and how to deal with stress. 5. They share the same role model.
"My father was always a good example for me," says François.
