9-year-old boy get suspended for telling classmate he could make him 'disappear'

lord of the rings   Aiden Stewart, a 9-year-old boy at Kermit Elementary school in Texas was suspended when he told a classmate he could make him disappear. He told his friend that if he put his toy ' Lord of the Rings' ring on his head, he could make him invisible. Just a few days prior, Aiden had watched " The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" with his family. In the movie, anyone wearing the ring becomes invisible. " It sounded unbelievable." said Aiden's father. " Kids act out movies that they see. When I watched Superman as a kid, I went outside and tried to fly."  " I assure you my son lacks the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend's existence." maintaing that Aiden "didn't mean anything by it." Although the school is not commenting at this time, they did suspend the boy the day after the incident because of his 'terroristic' threat. It would appear that the school authorities reacted a little to hastily in this matter. Afterall, the imagination of a child is something that should be encouraged, not stifled. In my opinion, this little playful act between two friends did not warrant a suspension. Do you think this school was out of line?   photo courtesy of zanastardust/Flickr
