Do you need to do your hair and makeup to give birth?

A mom looking at her newborn baby I've never given birth, but when I do, my main goal is to have a health baby and not to faint me and blood do not mix well. What I won't be concerned about is how I look while giving birth. In fact, I can guarantee after hours of sweating and swearing I will look like a mess. But some moms are decked out while giving birth. Heiress Tamara Ecclestone gave birth last week and posted a photo to her Instagram of her with her new baby. But when I saw the photo I couldn't focus on the sweet little face of her little girl, all I could see was Tamara's perfect curls. And her flawless makeup. And her perfect eyebrows. Who knows if Tamara actually looked like this when she gave birth. She very well could have had her hair and makeup done after she delivered her baby so that she looked good in the post-birth photos. But still, that's kind of weird. After you give birth you should be bonding with your baby and attempting to recover. Instead, you're getting all done up. That seems extreme to me. But surprisingly a lot of people do this. Beyonce did it for her first photos with Blue Ivy. I know celebrity moms aren't the best example of what normal moms do. Celebrities live in a fantasy world. But in this case, I think a lot of moms do wonder about how they should look when they give birth. It's not just hair and makeup that are a concern for moms, you also have to think about your hair maintenance. Tamara obviously had her eyebrows done before she gave birth, which I would probably do too. But do you need a bikini wax to give birth? And do you have to shave your legs? I don't know. The vain part of me says yes, but then the realistic part says giving birth isn't pretty, so really hairy legs won't be the most unsightly part of the birthing process. What do you think? Do you need to wax before you give birth? Do you need your hair and makeup done? Photo courtesy of newsusacontent/FlickrCC
