[caption id="attachment_1165" align="alignleft" width="200" caption="Pedal Power!"] Pedal Power![/caption] Today, the city of Toronto is abuzz with cyclists. It's Ride Your Bike to Work Day in these parts and I saw loads of cyclists out and about when I was walking my dog, including eight police officer on bikes. I love seeing the groups of cyclists meeting on Bloor Street to bike downtown together: strength and safety in numbers. Unfortunately I can only really enjoy Ride Your Bike to Work Day from afar, as I work way too far from my house to confidently bike into work. I imagine it would take me at least an hour, but the time commitment isn't putting me off, it's the fact that I'd have to bike on 60km/hr roadways that makes me shake in my boots. The annual Ride Your Bike to Work Day also marks the beginning of Bike Month. Though there are plenty events to celebrate cycling, there's also a lot of focus on safe cycling (plenty of police officer dolling out tickets for running red lights, not having proper lighting at nights and failing to stop at stop signs). And, don't forget your helmet! Did you bike to work today?
