In a world where Elliot Rodger—the 22-year-old mass murderer who killed six people as “retribution” for not having kissed a girl—has a Facebook fan page, it’s hard to deny that male entitlement is a very real and troubling issue. In Rodger’s 141-page manifesto, he wrote about a young, beautiful blond whom he had a crush on and how she teased him during adolescence. He blamed her for his hatred toward women, pinning the impending murders on someone who was only 10 years old at the time. Unfortunately, while most spurned boys and men don’t resort to mass murder, they still view (and treat) women as property and themselves as their rightful owners. Thankfully, humanity isn’t entirely lost. Many Twitter users have taken to social media to highlight some of the many ways that women are threatened by male privilege and entitlement on a day-to-day basis. Here is a selection of some of the most eye-opening tweets in the #YesAllWomen backlash. #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen #YesAllWomen
