You don't have to do everything, just do something

It's easy to feel guilty you're not doing everything green. Maybe you drove to work today, or maybe you took an extra-long shower so that you could wash your hair twice (I'm guilty of that one).

At the end of the day, none of us is perfect...we all make mistakes and slip up, but the key to green living, in my humble opinion, is to keep forging forward and trying better the next day and with the next choice you make. To paraphrase either Laurie David or Ed Begley Jr. (or probably both), You don't have to do everything, just do something.

Some choices are easier than others. One of the easiest no-brainers is switching to toilet paper made of recycled paper. It's not usually quite as, um, soft, as other brands, but I find that Cascades comes pretty close.

But it costs more money Sure it does, especially if you're used to loading up when TP goes on sale (also guilty). But you can do the same with the recycled stuff, as like practically everything else at the grocery store, it goes on sale from time to time too. I loaded up on Cascades toilet paper at Dominion (a local grocery chain) last weekend, because it was on sale.

So get rid of the guilt and resolve to do that little bit more when you can. You don't have to be perfect.
