Easy and affordable Mother's Day gift ideas for food lovers

They say the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. But if your mom is a foodie, the same may be true for her. If your mom loves everything to do with food -- from eating it to preparing it -- gift giving will be easy this Mother's Day.

We've rounded up a variety of food-related Mother's Day gift ideas. Some cost more time than money but either way, these gifts will make your mom feel special and let her know just how much you care.

1. Treat her to breakfast in bed
What's more luxurious than waking up in the morning and having someone pamper you before you even get out of bed? Show up at your mom's house first thing in the morning with a piping hot cup of her favourite tea or coffee, then whip up a tasty breakfast with all the things she likes best. It's a surefire way to get her day off to a great start.

2. Host an afternoon tea

Invite friends and family over for a lovely afternoon tea. This is such a wonderful tradition, but one we don't often find the time for in our busy schedules. Finger sandwiches, scones, cupcakes and cookies (and tea, of course!) are all you need to serve. Let your mom sit back while you serve the food and pour the tea. It's the kind of leisurely afternoon everyone's sure to enjoy.

3. Take Mom out to her favourite restaurant

Your mom has spent countless hours in the kitchen cooking dinner for you over the years. This year, tell her dinner is on you! Scout out a special restaurant and take her out for an unforgettable meal.

4. Cook her dinner
We've said it once, but we'll say it again: your mom has spent countless hours preparing meals for you! Mother's Day is the perfect time to return the favour. Pour her a glass of wine and let her sit back and relax while you do all the work. A home-cooked meal is always special and she'll appreciate your thoughtfulness. Just don't forget to clean up afterward.

Remember: You don't have to spend a lot of money to make her happy. The gift of your time and effort will mean the world to her.
